The Mazzolini Giuseppucci collection of pharmacy porcelain vases and ingredient containers is as important and prestigious as its wooden sculptured interiors. Ermogaste Mazzolini always wanted only the very best for his pharmacy and further proof of this ambition is the top of the range product line produced by Ginori di Doccia, the finest manufacturer of his time.
\nUnusually, the collection is almost fully intact and is made up of nearly 400 pieces, in particular glass vases and containers, all labelled by lacquer and pure gold cartouches indicating the substances stored. There are approximately 90 porcelain pieces, all finely restored and in pristine condition.
\nIn addition to the collection’s undoubted artistic and financial value, there is a significant scientific and historical value as it contains all the items listed in the second edition of the Official Italian Pharmacopoeia<\/em>, which was an extremely important mechanism for the standardization of weights, measures and approval of drugs in Italy. Its first edition dates back to 1892 and is exhibited in this museum.<\/p>\n
